Six Hard Truths I Learned During The First Three Months Of Post Grad.
The first year after college may be hard, but it does provide some serious life lessons.
None of your friends are out adventuring 24/7. People ugly cry, work boring jobs, and have bad hair days on the regular. Stop comparing yourself to highly edited snapshots of others.
Student Loans Are Definitely A Thing.
This one sounds super obvious, but it isn't something that you really think about during your days of carefree frolicking on campus. It isn't the end of the world, but it is something you need to prepare for. Maybe you should start by saving your money and not purchasing that Harry Potter onesie you've been eyeing for months.
Contrary to popular belief those gold stars you collected over the years can't be cashed in for fun prizes at the end of the graduation stage. Hard work and growth are the only things that hold weight in the real world. Also, rich parents wouldn't be a bad thing.
Friends Are Like Fashion. Some Are Classics And Others Are Cargo Shorts.
Sometimes we have to let go of the things we love because they don't suit us anymore. Party friends were great for the occasional keg stand, but aren't going to be a great source of emotional support when crisis hits. Quality over quantity is the key to this one.
College Is Essentially An Advanced Form Of Daycare.
All those #Adulthood posts that flooded your social feed all freshman year couldn't be further from the truth. Life was easy in college, but that doesn't mean that moving on is a bad thing. There is a certain satisfaction that comes from working hard and living completely by your own rules. You got this!
Mom Is Bomb.
Parents go from 0 to 100 real quick when you graduate. I mean who else is going to listen to you on the phone crying while filling the void with fast food. Call parents often and things will end up A-okay. Whoever that mentor may be in your life is going to become your lifeline for the next couple of years.
