Bea Arthur Is Continuing To Be Posthumously Awesome And Opening A Homeless Shelter Next Year
Bea Arthur died in 2009, but she left an incredible legacy that will contribute to a homeless shelter bearing her name next year.
Bea Arthur, in her lifetime, was many things. A fan-favorite golden girl, an incredibly sassy lady, and an advocate for LGBT youth.
Now, thanks to a $300,000 donation she made to the Ali Forney Center, which helps young members of the LGBT community, The Bea Arthur Residence will begin construction and open in 2017.
This shelter for homeless LGBT youth will have eighteen beds and will also offer counseling and case management for New York City youth in crisis, something Arthur definitely saw a need for during her time on earth.
