    The GOP Convention is in Cleveland, Ohio from July 18th-July 21st.

    The official party platform, and the official Republican nominee for president are voted on and approved.

    Who Plans the Convention?

    The Committee on Arrangements (COA) plans the convention. The COA is chosen by the RNC Chairman, who is currently Reince Priebus.

    What is a Delegate?

    Most delegates are grassroots party activists who campaign to represent their congressional district or their state. On the convention’s first ballot, nearly all of the delegates are obligated to vote for the candidate who won their district or state. If the decision goes to a second ballot, delegates may vote how they please.

    Why Does the Candidate Need to Reach 1237 Delegates?

    The candidate must reach a simple majority, which is half of the delegates plus one.
