2015 European Under-21 Championship - Five Upcoming Talents To Watch Out For!

The 2015 European Under-21 Championships get underway tonight and here are five of the best up-and-coming talents to watch out for in the tournament.

  1. 1

    Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

Technically superb, physically strong and a keen eye for goal, Højbjerg has all the attributes to become a complete midfield player. The Danish central midfielder is owned by Bayern Munich but had a successful loan spell at Augsburg last season and is expected to push for a first team place on his return.

  2. 2

    Pione Sisto

The Danish winger only made his under-21 debut in January, but immediately impressed with a stunning hat-trick on his very first appearance. Rumors suggest that scouts from Europe's leading clubs, including Arsenal and Barcelona, will be watching Sisto with huge interest. At just 20, Sisto has already made 58 appearances for his club side FC Midtjylland, scoring 14 goals.

  3. 3

    Johannes Geis

Despite his club side Mainz having a disappointing season, the defensive midfielder was hugely impressive and was rewarded with a move to Schalke. The German is outstanding technically and can create chances, even from a deep position. Since 2013/14 only Max Kruse (170) and Kevin De Bruyne (151) have created more chances in the Bundesliga than Johannes Geis (140).

  4. 4

    Danilo Cataldi

On loan at Crotone last season, the Italian was pivotal in their push for a promotion play-off place in Serie B. Upon his return to Lazio, the first half of his season was disrupted by injury but since returning in January, the all-action central midfielder has been a key part of the Lazio side who beat Roma into 2nd place in Serie A. Cataldi is strong technically and adept at creating chances but also relishes physical challenges.

  5. 5

    Rúben Neves

At just 18 years old, the Portuguese playmaker has huge talent. Possessing exceptional passing range and vision, he's being touted as the next João Moutinho. He's already made 24 appearances for Porto, represented the club in the Champions League and is expected to push on and become a key part of their midfield for years to come.
